Overview

Climbing Island Peak (Imja Tse) and Everest together are arguably one of Nepal’s best iconic peak combo climbs. Between Mt. Ama Dablam and Lhotse in the Khumbu region of Sagarmatha National Park, the peak is situated just above Chhukung plateau. The Island peak appears to be an island in the middle of a sea of ice, as viewed from Dingboche.

As compared to other peaks, this one is hard to stand, but it is doable only with the finest experts in the field and your dedication. On Island Peak, the Lhotse Glacier and a continuation of the moraine that descends from the south end of Lhotse Shar give way to an impressive, heavily glaciated west face. It’s a bit of a challenge, but the breathtaking views from the top make it worthwhile.

A dramatic flight to Lukla and a trek to Phakding accompany the climb to Lobuche Peak. We trek to Namche Bazaar, also known as the Everest gateway, the next day and spend two days there. We visit Bazaar, Hillary School, Hillary Hospital, Khumjung village, and the Everest View Hotel during these days.

On the following days, we soar beside the Dudh Koshi River following the trails of Imja Khola up to Tengboche, then visit the old Tengboche Monastery and then Dingboche. We will also spend two nights in Dingboche, during which time we will visit Dingboche village, the old monastery, and Sherpa village.

After that, we trek to Lobuche and then Gorakshep and hike up to Everest Base Camp and returning to Gorakshep on the same day. The next day, hike up to Kalapathar for a pictorial sunrise view from Mt. Everest, then retrace back to Chukhung village. On the following day trek to Island Peak Base Camp then on the following day, we climb the rocky ravine and climb up a steep snow slope and follow a ridgeline to the summit glacier to reach the peak. The view from the top is jaw-dropping, you can see the breathtaking panorama of gigantic mountains of Nuptse, Lhotse, Makalu, Baeuntse, Amadablam, and many others. We retrace our steps after a triumphant victory and joyous celebration on the same route before.

A special permit is needed for this trek because we have to enter the Sagarmatha National Park, which is listed in the restricted area. If you are planning for Island Peak Climbing, then Himalayan Marvel Adventure is happy to help you. You must be physically fit and require prior climbing experience. In case you don’t have climbing experience, we will provide the necessary climbing training with a well-experienced guide for the trek, and also you can also hire the required equipment.
