The Mardi Himal Trek is a seven-day trek in the Annapurna region that provides spectacular views of the Himalayan mountain range. In comparison to the well-known Everest Base Camp trek and the Annapurna Circuit trek, it is a lesser-known route.
The Mardi Himal Base Camp, situated underneath the Mardi Himal and the Annapurna region’s most prominent peak, Machapuchhre, attracts a small number of visitors. Before reaching the forest’s edge, the trail follows tiny narrow paths through beautiful rhododendron woodland. With views of Mardi Himal, Machapuchre, Annapurna South, and Hiunchuli, the landscape suddenly shifts to rocky high-altitude terrain.
The trek starts from Phedi, where we’ll begin our Mardi Himal trek. Phedi will lead us up the stairs. The trail ascends to Pothana through rhododendron and pine forests before arriving in Dhampus, a Gurung village known for its stunning views of the Annapurna ranges, Lamjung Himal, and Manaslu. On the following day, trek to Forest Camp with a sloping incline uphill via a dense forest, with stunning scenery of the Himalayas then Low camp.
The path continues through ancient rhododendron forests until it reaches a high point of approximately 3,300 meters. The scenery abruptly changes here, with stunning views of Mardi Himal, Machhapuchhre, Annapurna South, and Hiunchuli. The ascent from High Camp to Mardi Himal Base Camp takes about 4 hours and provides stunning close-up views of the entire Annapurna Range. There is also an incredible viewpoint 4 hours from High Camp. Then cross Siding village and Lumre, where the trek ends, and drive back to Pokhara then Kathmandu.
The Mardi Himal Trek 12 days trek is your thing. If you are looking for a less explored and less crowded trekking trail in Nepal. At any time of year, you can go on this trek, but in some places, the path is narrow so it is better to go when the weather is perfect.
