Overview

This Langtang Gosainkunda trek blends the remote and pristine Langtang Valley with the holy lakes of Gosainkund. Beginning in the Sherpa village of Syabrubesi on the outskirts of the Langtang National Park,  you climb through a beautiful landscape filled with magnificent wildlife, yak meadows, and nearby cheese factories! Himalayan pheasants, Himalayan deer, Himalayan tigers, monkeys, and the rare red panda live in this area.

There are even stories of Yeti sightings here! Nearby views of Langtang Lirung and other mountains separating Nepal and Tibet are visible at Kyangjing Gompa. Climb Kyangjin Ri, which is right behind the settlement and provides a stunning 360-degree view of the Langtang peaks.

You walk towards Thulo Syabru after backtracking for a day to the village of Lama Hotel. The next day, a steep ascent to Dimsa village, then continues on a moderately steep trail to Shin Gompa, passing through Rhododendron and Oak forest. It is a village on the way to Gosainkunda. Climbing through the forest to a high plateau, you come to the high and sacred lakes, thousands of pilgrims come here to bathe in the cold waters. Two of the most beautiful lakes in the region are Bhairab Kunda and Saraswati Kunda. After that, retrace back to Kathmandu through Ghopte, Melamchigaon, Tarkeghyabg, Sermathang, and Melamchi Bazaar.

The Langtang Gosaikunda trek is rated as moderate in terms of complexity, however, the difficulty level varies depending on factors such as age, trekking habit, physical wellbeing, the timetable chosen, and the season of the trek. These elements influence whether the journey will be easy or challenging. If you are a novice who is not used to trekking but enjoys hiking in the landscape and is eager to go, we suggest that you start doing exercises such as running and climbing to help you acclimate to high altitudes.
